Our History

The Hocking Metropolitan Housing Authority has been helping members of our community find and maintain safe and affordable housing in the Hocking area for more than 50 years. Established in 1966, HMHA was originally a voucher program designed to help those that might be struggling to maintain their housing.

HMHA continues to be an active part of the community, establishing a recovery house in the area and participating in local programs such as the summer feeding program.

1975

As the need for housing grew, however, HMHA grew alongside it, determined to help fight homelessness in the area. Within 10 years, HMHA would begin construction on its first property, and in 1975 the doors opened on the senior high-rise in the heart of downtown Logan.

1980 - 1990

As the city grew, however, so did the need for housing, and so HMHA would continue to construct affordable residences; opening Logan Village Apartments in the mid 1980’s and 24 additional units in the form of two projects titled “Scattered Sites One and Two” in the 1990’s.
