The Public Housing Program is designed to provide decent, safe, and sanitary housing for eligible low-income families or individuals. Federal aid is provided to local housing authorities, such as Hocking Metropolitan Housing Authority, in turn, HMHA manages housing low - income residents by establishing rents within their financial capabilities.

To be considered eligible for a Public Housing unit, applicants must;

  • Meet income guidelines.

  • Pass a criminal background check going back seven (7) years.

  • Have less than five (5) utility collections on credit background, medical and student loans are not counted.

  • Pass a reference check done by an HMHA property manager.

  • Household members must be a citizen or legal resident of the U.S.
